Sparsholt Cricket Club is a thriving community club on the outskirts of Winchester, Hampshire. It was established in 1929 and currently boasts 200+ members, 5 senior teams and 9 junior teams (U9s – U19s). In 2017 the club is also running All Stars Cricket (5 – 8yr olds) and setting up a women’s team to play in Hampshire Cricket’s W10.

The Clubhouse and grounds are utilised every weeknight and weekend during the season. We are a successful and fully inclusive cricket club with a small team of dedicated volunteers covering all areas from team management, coaching, umpiring, scoring and grounds maintenance.

The ClubMark approved junior section draws from mainly state primary and secondary schools from across the Winchester district. The senior first team play in the Southern Premier League as well as the National Village Knock Out and SPL T20 competitions while the other senior teams compete in the Hampshire Cricket League. The club is keen to ensure a good pipeline of young players through to the senior level, so junior / senior transition is a key focus area for the committee.

Sparsholt Cricket Club is well-known for its picturesque setting, quality wicket and welcoming teams. The Club itself is a true community club, tucked away in a small rural village. The local community are extremely supportive of the Club, and the local shop and Parish Council have voiced support for improvements in the facilities to ensure players, visitors and families continue to enjoy our amenities.

The club organise indoor training through the winter (January to April) before heading outdoors for the summer as follows:

We’re members of Winchester Warriors Junior Cricket, the District Association for junior cricket, and the club is affiliated to the Hampshire Cricket Board.  Our junior coaches and junior leaders are DBS checked and we make sure they take part in regular refresher training for coaches.
