Twyford

Twyford Cricket Club was founded in 1892.

In 2017, Twyford is celebrating 125 years of cricket!

The club was formed in 1892 as Twyford and Compton, playing games in nearby Shawford after World War I. After WWII, the club moved to Knighton, Twyford, before settling at Hunter Park in 1963. At the start of the 20th century, the club owned a horse and would hire a carriage on match days to take the team to and from the ground!

More recently, the club formed a Colts section in the late 20th Century. The Colts section, run entirely by volunteers, has always thrived. In terms of Senior success, in 2016 Twyford went a whole season unbeaten in winning their division in the Hampshire Cricket League, with many ex-Colts making appearances throughout the campaign.

TWYFORD COLTS

Twyford have 4 junior teams ranging from under 9s to under 15s. We always promote the fun element of cricket first, and parents are always very supportive, including coaching and helping out on match days.

Each age group has an ECB qualified coach. We have four ECB level 2 coaches, four level 1 coaches and a qualified coaching assistant. We train at Hunter Park, Twyford on Friday evenings (Sunday mornings for Under 15s), and use Twyford School for Winter/Pre-season training.

In 2017, Twyford are involved in the W10 initiative, with the aim of increasing female participation in cricket. We hold W10 training on Friday nights alongside the Colts from 7pm-8pm.

We’re members of Winchester Warriors Junior Cricket, the District Association for junior cricket, and the club is affiliated to the Hampshire Cricket Board. Our junior coaches and managers are DBS checked and First Aid trained and we make sure they take part in regular refresher training.
